Patitiri is the island’s main harbour and the first place you see when you arrive on Alonissos.
This striking amphitheatre shaped harbour with vertical cliffs on one side and gentler habitated slopes on the other has been well developed with the harmony of the landscape in mind.
Here you will find the majority of hotels and shops on the Island. There are numerous tavernas, Ouzeris supermarkets, quality bakeries and several bars, there is a very nice bar at the end of the beach. There is also a bank, (with cash machine), a post office and a police station.
Patitiri means winepress in Greek and the village got its name from the fact that all the winepresses and storage areas for the wine of Alonissos used to be in this area. There is one that still remains on the Harbour front which can hold an incredible 8 tons of wine. Unfortunately, little wine is now produced on the Island.
The Beach sitting beneath the cliffs is very popular and offers excellent swimming due to the beautifully clear waters despite the presence of the busy harbour.
