The Old Town or Chora oozes charm and character has many high quality restaurants and tavernas, with its whitewashed houses picturesque squares and stunning vistas at anytime of the day.
Part of the town is only accessed on foot with no motor vehicles allowed, with mules used to carry goods up the winding cobbled pathways taking the wares to the restaurants and shops at the top of the town.
This lovely village, the former capital of Alonissos, was largely abandoned by the villagers in 1965 following a devastating earthquake after which the inhabitants developed Patitiri harbour becoming the largest and main town on the Island.
